(Title refers to what I kept hearing cops yell out today because drivers were being naughty)
Today was packed with so many stories and adventures, I don’t even know where to begin. I started the day with some chorizo, of course. Btw, Spanish and Portuguese food are making it up there on my favorites.
The day started out with Trafalgar Square where the big lions and the National Gallery are. There was no water in the fountains, because apparently there was some kind of leak. But nbd because I’ll def be back there this summer. They also had this countdown clock for the 2012 Olympics.. in days, hours, minutes, AND seconds.. haha 400+ more days. Excited much? After Trafalgar Square, we headed to the Covent Garden Markets where we watched some street performers and hung out with some random Spanish students from Sevilla. I know, wth? haha.It started out with the girls asking us to take their picture, but we talked for a while (Okay, I just listened most of the time cause obvs my Spanish sucks) and then went to St. Paul’s church where famous people like Charlie Chaplin had their memorials. OH and sometime between all of this, I saw a British guy wearing a UCLA shirt. :) Just sayin’. After the markets, we checked out the Royal Opera House then walked all the way to Parliament Square. There was a student “demonstration” outside of the Prime Minister’s house/palace whatevs. It was pretty cool to see. We then headed to the Houses of Parliament and saw Big Ben. We also saw the London Eye, which I will def ride on in the future! I saw Westminster Abbey too but I didn’t go inside or take pictures. Why? Oh that’s right, because my camera’s battery had to die on me during the worst day possible. I had no choice but to resort to the good ol’ iPhone. Anyway, after that we headed to Buckingham Palace. We walked through St. James’ Park which is absolutely gorgeous. I want Buckingham Palace to be my new home, por favor. It looked so legit with the gates and the guards and everything. Then we went to Hyde Park and chilled for a while. I love people watching- even more in London. I wish parks in California were as awesome as the parks here in London. Sighhh. To end the day with a bang, I had this Spanish shrimp/prawns and chorizo dish. Scrumdiddlyumptious indeed!
I’m pretty sure there’s other stuff I forgot to mention, but there’s just too many things that went on today. I can’t keep track of everything, sbi. I’m even rushing through this right now just so everything’s still kinda fresh in my mind. This is my last night in London and I absolutely cannot wait to be back in June. There’s sooo much more to see inside and outside of the city. My aunt and uncle are amazing and I hope they have a wonderful 2-month vacation in the Philippines! Tomorrow, I’m flying to Italy and taking my first train ride from Pisa to Florence. ANDDDD staying at my first hostel eva. Let’s hope I don’t die. Stay tuned to find out…
Oh and of course, more things I learned about British culture:
8. Takeaway= to go
9. People just cross in the middle of big streets like nothing. I was scared for my life every time we jaywalked (which was every single time)
10. You look to the right first when you cross, not to the left. I keep forgetting and keep getting myself almost killed!
11. The only thing cheaper here compared to the states is postcards. +cool points!
Sidenote: AKris if you read this, I want you to know that I wore yo scarf all day today cause it was freezing sooo… GRAZIEEE!
